Trash Queenz x Garbage Town
Trash Queenz x Garbage Town was a temporary installation developed by an ad hoc collective called the Trash Queenz, comprised of artists Sahra Soudi, Ariel Bader-Shamai, and Maria Simmons, and Garbage Town, an installation by Annie Webber. The artists went on collective and individual “trash walks,” picking up pieces of discarded materials on local streets, the Trash Queenz on Hamilton streets and Annie Webber on Toronto Streets. The materials from Hamilton were then preserved using a variety of methods, most notably using traditional picking brines, and displayed in glass jars. The materials from Toronto are left as they are. The process is a reflection on what we choose to keep in a rapidly changing environment.
